A thin compact mat, a couple of hikes should be enough
These are great. Very good quality, small, incredibly light, and inexpensive. This is one of those very rare cases where "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply ... because you get way more than what you paid for!

I bought three of these for my children to use to sit on at camp, rather than dirty up a towel. They are lightweight, easy to fold and more convenient than a blanket or towel to tote around in their backpacks. I do wish they were a little larger, though. Although they were perfect for my 7 year old, my 11 and 12 year old thought they were a little bit too small. .
