I encountered these things only a couple of months ago. Before that I used paper as a fire starter. These are so much easier. They work as promised.

These things work great. Light any corner of the cardboard holder, place under your hearth and your firewood, and you'll have a roaring blaze in 5 - 10 minutes. Beats messing around with newspapers to get your fire started.
